This is latin for the responsibility borne by an employer for injuries caused by an employee to a third party. Ordinarily, when an employee runs a red light and injures you, his employer will also be liable to you, even though the employer did nothing wrong. About the only limitation on this principle in Arizona is that the employee must be acting within the scope of his employment at the time of the injury, and not off on some lark.
